Save the date…the Hopewell Valley YMCA will host its Spring Gala & Dinner Dance at TPC Jasna Polana on Friday, April 19th. This year’s event will celebrate the incredible accomplishments of Sheryl Stone, Chair of the Recreation Foundation of Hopewell Valley. Under Sheryl’s leadership, the Recreation Foundation has successfully installed fields for numerous local youth sports organizations. The Fields at Back Timberlane and the recent Hopewell Valley Turf Field behind the high school are a few of those major accomplishments. Ms Stone started the Recreation Foundation of Hopewell Valley after having led the Hopewell Valley Municipal Alliance. After completing a community needs assessment where respondents overwhelmingly lamented the need for local recreational activities and facilities, Ms Stone took the helm of starting the Recreation Foundation.
“Although I am really honored to receive this recognition, it’s really on behalf of the Recreation Foundation… it’s all really for the KIDS!” remarked Sheryl Stone. Previous recipients of the award include: John Phillips, Pat and Mika Ryan, and the Rothwell Family/Pennington Quality Market. “It is quite humbling to join such a prestigious list of previous recipients,” explained Ms Stone.
The planning committee is seeking additional members to join them. Also needed are sponsors, donations, auction items, and advertisers to support the grand event. Proceeds from the evening are used to provide financial assistance to local families for child care, summer camp, youth sports, swimming lessons and to operate the Hopewell Valley Youth Activity Center.
